The Human Resources Generalist supports the implementation of people strategies aligned with the respective client group objectives. The HRG will assist line management in implementing HR practices; facilitate various efforts in the development and implementation of human resources policies, programs, and procedures to carry out the organization and human resources strategies; provide guidance, advice, and assistance to management and employees on issues or problems relating to human resources. Also collaborates with HR Team and other HR Staff to ensure efficiency and consistency of provided services; manages the recruiting function for assigned customers.
At Fresh Express, the Human Resources Generalist is involved in all areas of human resources:
- Recruitment and selection: Oversees/ manages the recruitment function for assigned customer groups. This includes: retaining the services of search firms, submitting postings, assist with job documentation/compliance requirements, conducts interviews, provides input to hiring managers, performs reference checks, recommends compensation levels, and completes payroll and benefits administration.
- On-boarding: Provides support to HR leaders & hiring managers by ensuring all new hire paperwork/ background checks/ drug screens and completed timely and as per policy. Is primary HR contact for all new hires; conducts new hire orientations and facilitates transition into business/organizational unit. Partners with 1st level supervisor to ensure goal setting and development plans are executed in a timely manner.
- HR Policy Administration: Supports the documentation and implementation of policies and procedures and interprets as appropriate for the operational units.
- Employee Relations: Provides guidance and advice to Management and associates on HR issues. Provides counsel to management on labor and ethical issues relating to employment law & associate relations as necessary.
Minimum qualifications:
- 2-5 years HR generalist experience.
- Basic knowledge of recruitment, training, compensation, benefit programs and systems required.
- Experience maintaining HRIS (Workday experience preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field desired.

- Provide coaching and consultative services.
- Utilize well developed interpersonal skills to professionally interact with all levels of employees, including higher management.
- Influence and develop solid business partnerships throughout the organization.
- Utilize excellent organizational skills to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Provide excellent analytical and problem solving expertise.
- Demonstrate the ability to assimilate information effectively from numerous sources both internal and external to Fresh Express.
- Demonstrate the ability to make timely decisions that are structured utilizing existing knowledge and expertise.
- Apply knowledge of current employment legislation and current HR issues.
- Effectively apply strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- PHR/SPHR certification desirable.
