Our client, a pension fund located in midtown NYC, seeks a privacy and compliance specialist. Knowledge of privacy, information security and/or qualified retirement plans is strongly preferred. Qualified candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience. This is a hybrid position with a 4-day work week (Tues-Thurs in office, remote on Friday's).
In this role you will be responsible for supporting the implementation and development of the company's compliance efforts, including privacy and data security. In addition, reviewing, editing, formatting, and comparing complex legal documents, presentations and other materials; and assisting with projects of the Assistant Vice President, Compliance Liaison & Privacy Officer and attorneys responsible for the company's pension, health, and disability benefits. Please note that a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification or currently studying to receive designation is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, maintain, organize, and track materials relating to the company's enterprise-wide compliance efforts, including policies and procedures, corporate filings, securities restricted list, privacy and enterprise-wide compliance information on the intranet, materials prepared by Compliance Coordinators such as compliance plans, Compliance Committee materials, and online compliance calendars.
- Serve as the backup to the Legal Department’s Privacy Officer and Compliance Liaison. Respond to general client privacy inquiries and data requests and assist with the review and updates to privacy policies and procedures. Lead implementation of annual corporate wide privacy and data security training and provide ad-hoc privacy training, as needed.
- Ability to understand and communicate legal developments affecting the company in the privacy area, with a focus on health, cybersecurity, and marketing laws and regulations.
- Support both the Incident Response and Crisis Communication Response teams through responding to privacy events and incidents.
- Administer and track participation of employees for enterprise-wide compliance initiatives including conflict of interest surveys and compliance certifications.
- Communicate, maintain and update legal holds, as needed.
- Assist with the preparation and/or review of complex legal documents, presentations and other materials, as needed.
Strong computer skills needed, including intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Powerpoint).

BA/BS required, advanced degree a plus.
Experience with a law firm or corporate law department preferred.
International privacy and/or information security experience a plus.
