I am currently partnered with a key client, one that Barrington James has placed several key hires with, to identify an experienced candidate to essential head up their clinical group by bringing someone on in the role of Sr Director Operations, reporting into their COO.
This incredibly innovative medical device company has an already approved imaging device where they are actively looking to expand their groundbreaking device into new indications. This hire will play an integral role in this along with assisting in not only driving the business forward by implementing an overall clinical strategy but also with growing the clinical team.
Although a very exciting opportunity, this will be an integral and pivotal hire for the company with a lot of exposure to senior management where having a background working in start up environments is preferred.

Overall responsibilities
- Manage and grow strategic clinical group by fostering and growing key collaborator and corporate business partnerships to deliver company growth objectives.
- Build a strategy to assess feasibility and viability of new use cases, grow the clinical evidence base for use cases aligned to company's business objectives
- Collaborate cross-functionally to establish study goals, timelines, and deliverables, and oversee study progress and outcomes.
- Develop and implement best practices for clinical study design, data collection, and analysis.
- Collaborate with regulatory teams to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Strategically design, oversee, and report on innovative clinical studies to assess feasibility and viability of new use cases, and for new product development, ensuring patient safety and quality.
- Manage the clinical team budget, ensuring resource allocation for efficient and high-quality studies.
- Lead and develop a proficient team of technologists/subject matter experts, facilitating their growth and expertise in clinical applications offering advanced clinical support for key collaboration sites.
- Drive strategic clinical initiatives, supporting clinical studies for in-hospital applications including ICU, ED, OR, and global health applications.
Knowledge/Skill Required:
- Strong experience working with external and internal stakeholders, including Clinical, R&D, Product, Quality and Regulatory, Service, etc.
- Exceptional team leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong organization and multitasking capabilities.
- Analytical, articulate, technically savvy, and professional.
- Demonstrated success in managing clinical business partnerships and studies.
Education/Experience Required:
- Master's degree or other advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in medical imaging/device
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience, demonstrating strong team management skills.
- Proven success in clinical research, multi-center trials, and medical device industry.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, influence stakeholders, and manage regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership in a commercial medical imaging (MRI, PET, CT, SPECT, and/or ultrasound) startup environment
