As Aeris continues to expand, we are growing our Network Infrastructure team and that's where you come in! As a Senior IP Network Engineer, you will provide expert technical leadership on IP and mobile IP data transport, network design, network management, solution deployment and integration for the hybrid cloud infrastructure. The Senior IP Network Engineer designs, operates and optimizes core routing and switching environments, develops network security designs, performs network maintenance and optimization, develops simulated test environment, develops automation tools, architects the evolution and migration of the network infrastructure, and manages external network connectivity.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work on complex projects including teams from multiple areas e.g. Cellular core, Dev Ops, etc.
- Lead projects from start to end including design, configuration and documentation
- Configure, deploy and manage firewalls, switches, routers, VPN appliances, load balancers and network management tools in a multi-vendor environment
- Design, develop, implement and manage our hybrid cloud infrastructure
- Perform network maintenance and hardware/software upgrade of networking equipment
- Lead network diagnosis and trouble-shooting
- Develop automation tools for network operation tasks
- Design, implement and support simulated network test environment
- Handle complex internal analysis and support of the network and security infrastructure and anticipate networking and security needs for planning and budgeting
- Lead auditing and documentation of the environment on a regular basis, including analyzing and delivering network performance metrics as needed
- Perform multi-functional training to other engineering disciplines
- Establish, maintain and monitor enterprise customer connectivity to Aeris platforms and provide advanced client support as required within a 24/7 environment
What we look for in you:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of professional experience in a Network Engineering capacity, and have CCNP certification or higher
- You possess an excellent understanding of standard networking protocols and architecture and a solid experience with implementing and operating L2 (VLAN, STP, VPC, VRF) and L3 (OSPF, MPBGP, MPLS, EIGRP, HSRP) IP network infrastructure
- You have solid hands-on experience (5+ years) with Cisco ASR routers, Cisco Cat 8k virtual routers, Nexus switches (N7k, N5k, N2k), Catalyst switches, Cisco ASA firewalls (virtual and physical)
- You are experienced with Cisco ASA firewalls, VPN policies, NAT/PAT, firewall routing using OSPF, BGP and EIGRP; working with multiple contexts is preferred
- You have worked with designing and building complex IP L2 and L3 environments in large enterprises or telco environments
- You have direct experience working on multi-site and data center connectivity for High Availability applications
- You have strong firsthand experience working with public cloud infrastructure and with virtual networking and private cloud technologies
- You are proficient in creating diagrams (using Visio, Power point or similar applications) and presenting them to the team
- You have previous experience using platform and application monitoring tools such as TACACS, SolarWinds, Big Brother and Zabbix
- You are a self-starter, assertive, well organized, and have precise attention to detail as well as excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills
- You enjoy problem-solving, applying critical thinking and calmness to find solutions in high-pressure situations
- You enjoy working in a collaborative environment - leading/working with our global team
Things that will set you apart:
- You have experience or knowledge of cellular core network
- You have experience in network automation
- You have hands-on experience with Google Cloud, Azure or AWS
- You have hands-on experience on Juniper equipment
- You previously worked with Container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS and Virtualization Certifications
- You are well-versed with using scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Bash
