About This Client - The World's First Group 5 UAV Swarm
Our client is building the world's first Group 5 UAV swarm - composed of a new, innovative type of aircraft. They're creating the highest production-rate aircraft since WW2, and that means pioneering approaches to aerostructure design & manufacturing (highest production rate composite aircraft ever), swarm communications / avionics, and swarm tactics / software. It’s an exciting time to join their team; with over $20M in funding and tech that earned them the highest defense seed funding of 2023, there's strong momentum as they move towards our Series A.
Their team has years of aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Stratolaunch, Airbus Vahana, Airflow, MIT JHO, Uber Elevate, Boeing, and Embraer X. They have previously put together billions in tech deals involving DOD and built software platforms supporting millions of users, cutting edge AI, and ultra-low latency trading.
Our client is looking for a world-class Composite Structures Engineer to join their team. As a structures designer, you will be responsible for designing and testing flight vehicles.
What you’ll do:
- Design composite and metallic aircraft components using Siemens NX, Fibersim
- Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate the practicality of proposed aircraft designs
- Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and develop FEM models
- Work with the other team leads (aero, M&P, manufacturing) to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
- Ensure that designs meet safety, regulatory and performance standards
- Keep abreast of advancements in aircraft design and technology
What you’ve done:
- Graduated with Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Advanced degrees are preferred
- Gained a minimum of 2 years of experience in composite structures design (aircraft, spacecraft or similar vehicle design)
- Developed a strong proficiency in CAD tools such as Siemens NX or similar
- Designed and built composite structures
- Had experience with analysis tools, Femap/Nastran/HyperX etc.
- Acquired and understanding of Aviation industry and DoD standards

- Hands-on experience designing and building composite bonded structures/aircrafts (RC, experimental or certified aircrafts)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong design skills using NX & Fibersim, understanding of PLM system (Teamcenter)
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
ITAR Requirements
- Due to ITAR regulations, this individual must be a US citizen of current green card holder.
- Candidate must be willing to obtain and maintaining a security clearance if necessary in the future.
