401K Benefits Manager position will support the VP of Retirement Benefits in managing a team of Retirement Benefit Specialists and help provide administrative support to several 401(k) Multiple Employer Plans (MEP) and client sponsored plans. In this role, you will be involved in multiple aspects of the MEP operations, including plan compliance, supporting clients and participants, retirement-related payroll support, facilitating MEP mergers and setting up new retirement plans within our payroll software systems. The Retirement Benefits Manager partners directly with retirement vendors to resolve issues and find improvements to current plan processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide supervision to and assist with the development of the Retirement Benefit Specialists.
- Support team with administration of retirement plans, ensuring operational tasks adhere to stated plan provisions and ERISA. Areas to include remittance of contributions, year-end compliance testing, plan document review, plan corrections, among others.
- Serve as an escalation point for the team and within the organization when plan questions or issues arise.
- Communicate with internal and external customers regarding 401(k) administration, providing subject matter expertise and support for the company products and services.
- Help identify and implement process improvements to enhance team productivity and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with the company's retirement vendors to perform due diligence on the company's MEPs and resolve issues.
- Work proactively and professionally with multiple departments including Payroll, Client Relations, Sales and Benefits.
- Assist with the merger of acquired company MEPs into the company 401(k) plan.
- Support annual 401(k) plan audits and Form 5500 filings by working with Third-Party Administrators, Recordkeepers and Auditors.
- Maintain accuracy while working with high volumes in a hyper-growth environment.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.

Education & Experience
- Associates Degree or equivalent combination of experience, skills, education (including other relevant non-traditional degree programs, certifications, or job training programs) preferred.
- 5+ years of experience focused on 401(k) plan administration required
- 1+ years of leadership experience
- Third-Party Administration (TPA) experience preferred
- Multiple Employer Plan (MEP) or Pooled Employer Plan (PEP) experience a plus
- Retirement related credentials a plus (QKA, RPA)
- PEO experience a plus
