Job Description: Are you a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for design and innovation? We are seeking a talented individual to join our clients team, where you will make equipment and material recommendations, perform engineering calculations, and assist in testing to validate components or assemblies. This role focuses primarily on mechanical engineering but requires some electrical knowledge as well.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical design work, including modifying existing drive layouts and updating outdated components to meet specialized customer needs.
- Design and modify mechanical eddy current drives and brakes, ensuring they meet customer requirements.
- Develop mechanical drawings using AutoCAD and create bills of materials to align with customer product requirements.
- Assist purchasing with component changes due to obsolescence or supply shortages, including identifying vendors and manufacturers.
- Provide technical support to customers and in-house teams (Sales, Operations, Purchasing).
- Support testing, repair services, and commissioning of controls and/or mechanical equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Technical degree or demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering with knowledge of physics, mathematics, and mechanics required to calculate torque and thermodynamics.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role.
- Foundational knowledge of rotating mechanical equipment and their use in industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
- Ability to analyze assembly drawings and identify components to generate bills of materials.
Preferred:
- BSME degree.
- Experience with 3D modeling and converting to 2D drawings.
- Balanced background in both mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Background in eddy current controls, brakes, and clutches.
- Firm knowledge of rotating mechanical equipment and electronic controls.
Miscellaneous Requirements:
- Approximately 15% overnight travel, including potential international travel.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and judgment, requiring a signed non-disclosure agreement.
- This is a safety-sensitive position.
