Job Summary
The Manager of Estimation is responsible for cost estimation and program development for recurring landscape, snow removal, and other contracted maintenance. This role involves analyzing scope requirements, ordering and analyzing property data, preparing detailed cost estimates, and collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate and competitive bids. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in landscaping or snow removal, with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze requirements, specifications, and property data (maps and measurements) to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs for land management and snow removal projects.
- Prepare and submit detailed cost estimates and bid proposals in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing information.
- Coordinate site visits to assess project scope and gather necessary information.
- Provide technical support and guidance to Transition team
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain a database of historical cost data for future reference and benchmarking.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to land and snow management.
- Understand regional service implications and work to build out national programs with accurate service delivery across different verticals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in construction management, landscape architecture, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating within the landscaping, construction, or snow removal industry.
- Strong understanding of land management and snow removal techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
- Certification in cost estimating or project management is a plus.
