Position: Geotechnical Engineer
Locations: Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; Philadelphia, PA; or Remote (PA, OH, IN, IL, WV, MD, NJ, VA)
Role Overview: My Client is expanding and seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The Geotechnical Engineer will manage the design and execution of geotechnical projects, perform field explorations and investigations, review soil laboratory test results, and analyze and design geotechnical data. The role involves preparing and presenting geotechnical engineering reports to stakeholders and managing geotechnical projects, including defining scope, schedule, and budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Geotechnical Analysis: Conduct geotechnical studies to assess mitigation options for pipeline erosion, landslide, and fault line projects. Provide foundation and retaining wall recommendations.
- Exploration and Reporting: Plan and conduct geotechnical explorations, perform calculations, and prepare data reports for clients.
- Project Proposals: Develop proposals, and determine costs and schedules for investigations.
- Field Direction: Guide the technical team in field inspection activities.
- Client and Team Interaction: Collaborate with customers and team members to ensure timely project completion.
- Design and Evaluation: Assist the Program Manager in designing and evaluating construction documents and projects.
- Drawings and Specifications: Develop design drawings and specifications for construction projects.
- Consultant Reviews: Review and approve geotechnical designs by external consultants.
- Performance Evaluation: Assess team performance and identify training needs to meet objectives.
Qualifications:
- Education: BS in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification: Civil Engineering PE required.
- Experience:
- Engineer II: 3-6+ years of experience.
- Engineer III: 6-13 years of experience.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of industry codes and standards.
- Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with relevant software applications.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.

- Experience in engineering, procurement, and construction projects is desirable.
