A well-known employee-owned EPC is searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support their Energy group. In this role you'll be tasked with leading project teams to design new & existing power generation facilities. These design projects aim to boost power production across various facilities, such as traditional gas generation (simple cycle, combined cycle, reciprocating engines), renewable generation (solar thermal, solar photo-voltaic, hydro, hydrogen), and energy storage (lithium-ion batteries, flow batteries). The Senior Mechanical Engineer will oversee the project team through the design, procurement, and construction phases, modifying mechanical plans based on budget limitations, design considerations, or client requirements.
Senior Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through to design completion, meeting the requirements set by project managers.
- Utilize expert knowledge of mechanical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures commonly used in the mechanical engineering services industry.
- Calculate size requirements for mechanical equipment and materials, developing procurement specifications, lists, datasheets, and drawings.
- Review quotes from mechanical suppliers or contractors, complete technical bid summaries, and write purchase recommendations.
- Develop comprehensive mechanical engineering design documents, including design notes, calculations, reports, flow modeling summaries, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, sketches, plan drawings, section drawings, isometrics, pipe supports, datasheets, details, specifications, 3D model routing recommendations, and other related documents.
- Conduct quality reviews of mechanical engineering designs completed by colleagues.
- Review supplier documents for adherence to design specifications, providing redlined documents or drawings as needed.
- Review construction contractor submittals and respond to technical requests for information during procurement and construction activities.
- Lead site visits for data collection, field inspections, construction reviews, commissioning support, factory acceptance testing support, or construction support services for both public and private clients.
- Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
- Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers, and contractors, while developing new business opportunities, ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.
- Participate in sales and marketing efforts, identifying key pursuits.
- Assist in the development of project schedules, scopes, budgets, staffing, and planning.
- Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve financial performance targets and standards.
- Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates, and report on project performance.
- Manage engineering scope changes effectively, notifying the project manager and/or client of any schedule and budget impacts. Responsible for managing mechanical budgets on projects.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the mechanical engineering team, mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Apply knowledge and experience to complex projects, devising non-standard design solutions.
- Ensure adherence to the QA/QC process.
- Maintain effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
- Comply with company and site safety policies.
- All other duties as assigned
