This Associate contract manager position manages environmental compliance permits for Land and Environmental Management (primarily for the Air Quality and Hazardous Materials Programs).
- As permit coordinator, the AES manages approximately ~ 1000 permits issued by state and local environmental agencies, and reviews/processes fees associated with: (1) all minor air quality sources, (2) most Title V permitted facilities, (3) LNG air permits, (4) PERP registrations, (5) CUPA permits, (6) fire department permits, (7) spill emergency response fees, and (8) some water system permits.
- The AES regularly responds to Environmental Field Specialist (EFS) queries regarding permit status and resolves permit and invoice discrepancies by: direct communication with assigned EFS and regulatory agency staff, and review of on-line agency compliance systems. The AES maintains and updates permit records in Salesforce to manage and track permit status (including invoice payments) and maintains permit electronic archives on SharePoint and Salesforce. (70% of workload). The AES works with EFS to coordinate the completion and submission of approximately 100 annual emission inventory reports to local air districts. (10% of workload)
- Travel to office 1-2 days a week to retrieve and scan incoming mail. Prepare and send outgoing mail via USPS, UPS, or Pony Express (inter-company service) on an as needed basis. (10% of workload)
- The AES coordinates the annual payment of two particularly complex and critical compliance obligations: (1) AB 32 COI invoice – over $4 million and (2) BOE Hazardous Substance Environmental Fee and Hazardous Waste Generator Fee. (less than 5% of workload)
- General special projects support on an as-needed basis (5% of workload)
The AES directly reports to the Manager, Air Quality, Environmental Management & Programs and dotted-line reports to the Managers, in other programs if supported.
