Job Overview
This role is embedded in the Manufacturing Engineering group within our Global Operations Engineering team at our new state-of-the-art device manufacturing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina. Together with the rest of your team, you will drive and support manufacturing automation, with a particular focus on software, data handling, and digital systems.
Main Responsibilities
- Primary SME for driving and supporting site-wide industrial automation projects
- Architect and drive implementation of our local data monitoring and visualization approach
- Improve digital system reliability for the core processes to meet all customer, business & regulatory requirements
- Lead & support troubleshooting and issue resolution of critical production systems to minimize unplanned downtime
- Work with the local and global IT and digital systems teams to drive towards a global approach
- Manage technology transfer (receiver function) of new automated/digital systems and processes into mass production
- Participate as a critical team member on project teams to start up new facilities, equipment, or processes
- Lead and support the identification of novel manufacturing systems and software for next gen manufacturing systems
- Promote use of new technologies and industry-leading trends. Provide highest level of technical expertise
- Collaborate closely with production teams, machine builders, process/product development groups, and the quality department on performance/process improvements, troubleshooting, and critical event response
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualification
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent education/experience
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in automation engineering, preferably in a medical device or industrial setting
- Experience implementing and troubleshooting industrial software systems (SCADA, MES, etc.)
- Knowledge of common control and system architectures and associated languages
- Familiarity with the latest automation technologies (IoT, industry 4.0, etc.)
- Effective analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with Siemens software platforms (OpCenter, etc.)
- Experience with industrial programming and/or software systems
- Experience with object-oriented programming (Python, C# preferred)
- Ability to work independent with strong attention to detail and focus on efficiency, effectiveness and cost
- Passionate & committed self-starter with “can do” attitude, team player and taking responsibility to get the job done
