Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior High Voltage Engineer to join our team. This role involves overseeing the design of substation and transmission line projects, including performing and reviewing studies, calculations, and coordinating efforts. Additionally, the Senior High Voltage Engineer is responsible for delivering automation systems related to high-voltage aspects of utility-scale solar, BESS, and wind projects. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop efficient and reliable designs for substations and transmission lines.
Responsibilities:
- Understand the work involved in substation and transmission line projects and make sure everything is delivered as expected.
- Create layouts for control buildings, general arrangements for substations, plans for cables and conduits, and more.
- Help develop key documents for substation designs, including both air-insulated (AIS) and gas-insulated substations (GIS).
- Review and guide the design work of contractors to align with our engineering standards.
- Provide support for electrical systems in operating renewable energy projects.
- Participate in the review process for the design and construction of new projects, including the collection system, substation, and transmission lines.
- Assist with project commissioning, documentation, and energization.
- Continuously improve procedures for commissioning, maintenance, and operations.
- Review maintenance records and suggest improvements to ensure everything runs smoothly and meets standards.
- Work with the team to analyze project outcomes and learn from any issues.
- Develop and implement improvement projects, including creating documents, budgets, schedules, and proposals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure project goals are met
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in high voltage engineering, with a focus on utility-scale projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project software suites, and SEL Equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience with large utility scale solar projects preferred.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
