Keystone Experts & Engineers is urgently seeking licensed (PE) Civil Engineers / Structural Engineers in Chicago, IL.
This is a fully remote, part-time, 1099 contract position. We have an immediate need for experts in:
- Chicago, IL
- Detroit, MI
- Denver, CO
- All states of New England - especially MA, CT, NH
- Minneapolis, MN
We are seeking Civil/Structural Engineers with experience completing forensic investigations to determine the cause and origin of various site issues, including weather-related damage, treefall or vehicle impacts, or building movement to residential and commercial properties.
The ideal candidate will have experience...
- performing evaluations of building envelope and structural elements of residential and/or commercial buildings.
- providing evaluations of reported damage as a result of hail, wind, moisture intrusion, flooding, vehicle or tree impacts, etc.
- providing a general scope of recommendations for repairs where needed.
What you will do:
- Conduct investigations of reported damage to buildings to determine causes and contributing factors.
- Evaluate conditions resulting from natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, wind events, hail storms, or floods.
- Access roofs, attics & crawl spaces to photo document areas of interest.
- Prepare & submit findings and, when required, recommendations for repairs.
What you will bring:
- Active Professional Engineering license(s) required
- Degree in civil or structural engineering or similar field
- Professional knowledge of building materials, codes, construction methods & common modes of failure
- Ability to access roof, attic and crawl space areas
- Ability to adhere to tight deadlines
- Availability to readily accept assignments and perform site inspection within 5-7 days
- Ability to use multiple software platforms, tools / equipment & investigative techniques
- Outstanding written & verbal communications skills
- An analytical mind and strong problem-solving ability
