Description:
The Information Technology (IT) Asset & Configuration Management Analyst will assist with the management of hardware technology assets in the Asset Management Database (AMDB) and configuration items (CI) in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The person in this role is responsible for providing data analysis and updates to support the effective management of digital technology assets and CIs, whether owned and managed by Digital IT, third-party service providers or client’s business units.
The Analyst will support the ITAM & Configuration Management Programs in performing day-to-day hardware IT Asset Management (ITAM) and Configuration Management operations related to enterprise asset repository management, asset reconciliation, exception identification data analysis and creating reports for assets in the AMDB and CIs in the CMDB. The Analyst will also perform day-to-day CI operations to ensure synchronization and accuracy of the AMDB and CMDB. Day-to-day operations responsibilities will also include managing AMDB and CMDB incident tickets and service requests according to SLAs, stakeholder outreach for each process area, and supporting the adoption of each process area. The Analyst will perform multiple, sometimes complex asset and configuration management support activities. The role will work with the ITAM and Configuration Management Leads to help ensure that the processes and policies are followed and identify and implement opportunities for improvement. This role's primary focus is supporting the ITAM and ITSM Configuration Management operations, and supporting the adoption of each process area. Its secondary focus is providing, analyzing, and producing asset and CI data, reporting, and metrics.
The role will also assist in completion of routine and complex work requests associated with the processes, as well as the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy, procedures, and performance standards. This individual will participate in various functions of the ITAM & Configuration Management Programs, which will include validating AMDB and CMDB records for data accuracy and completeness, and status related to receiving, stock maintenance, deployment, asset assignment, asset auditing, asset reclamation, asset retirement and decommission, and asset disposal.
Essential Functions:
- Update, validate and maintain AMDB and CMDB
- Track and monitor asset and CI inventories based on operational guidance from the ITAM and Configuration Management Leads
- Identify and investigate asset and CI inventory variances
- Coordinate remediation activities for these variances based on operational guidance from the ITAM and Configuration Management Leads
- Support efforts to ensure ITAM and Configuration Management Process discipline is adhered to across all aspects of the ITAM and Configuration Management Processes
- Ensures compliance with our governance processes to ensure assets and CIs are maintained to standards in our data repositories
- Prepares asset and CI reports and metrics for the ITAM and Configuration Management team, stakeholders and executive leadership
- Supports internal self-audits and external audits of assets and CIs
- Provides support and backup to the ITAM and Configuration Management Lead through performance of regular ITAM and Configuration Management activities.
- Support definition and maintenance of ITAM and Configuration Management policies, standards and processes
- Support design and implement policy enforcement methodologies to detect non-compliance
- Facilitate ITAM and Configuration Management training and knowledge management
- Performs other ITAM and Configuration Management related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualification:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, certification and experience.
- Experience using asset and configuration management-related tools and data
- Proficiency in using advanced functionalities of Excel and other data analysis tools
- Excellent understanding of the IT Hardware Asset Management lifecycle, and ITAM and Configuration Management best practices
- Required 3 years of experience in IT Asset Management and/or Configuration Management
- Preferred 5 years of experience in IT Asset Management and/or Configuration Management
- Preferred Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP) Certification and/or ITIL certification
- Good team player and ability to collaborate with broader team and process stakeholders
- Ability to analyze information and develop a comprehensive work plan
- Ability to communicate and make recommendations to peers and upper management
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers and management
- Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Must be able to document information, issues, work and/or incidents using standard formats. Documentation must be grammatically correct, factually accurate, and appropriate to the target audience.
