Reading Specialist / Tutor
Part-time
$20-22 per hour
At the center (no driving/in-home)
Local learning center is seeking a Reading Tutor who is passionate about helping children reach their full academic potential. This role will entail working with students in a one on one setting at our Arcadia center location. We help all students, including those with dyslexia, ADHD, or other previously diagnosed learning disorders. We use fun, innovative teaching methods that help children to gain confidence while learning. We promote a team environment where all tutors are valued.
Training in Arcadia Literacy & Learning Programs will be provided for all tutors, no previous training required, but previous teaching experience or experience working with children in a professional setting is highly preferred.
Tutor Responsibilities:
- Facilitate one on one sessions with students and implement the student’s success plan
- Communicate with management team to provide feedback on student progress on the plan
- Use multi sensory instructional techniques and positive praise to build student understanding
- Create lessons based on a set curriculum
- Build rapport and strong working relationships with students
- Participate in monthly team meetings

- Excellent at reading, writing, and spelling
- Experienced at working with school-aged children, ideally in a tutoring or educational setting.
- This position is ideal for college students seeking job experience while enrolled in a degree program, or for working professionals looking for an additional job.
Hours/Pay:
- Part-time, ideal candidates available 10-20 hours per week.
- Evening availability required (3:30-5:30 PM for at least 2 weeknights) in the fall.
- Hours are flexible to work around a school schedule or other broad scheduling needs.
- Pay when tutoring is $20-$22/hr.
- Training is paid! Training pay is $16/hr.
