We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The role will collaborates with various functional groups, including manufacturing, design engineering, quality, and customer service. This role is responsible for developing methods and sequences for manufacturing operations, particularly for intricate and/or complex machined parts and assemblies, ensuring they meet design and quality standards. Additionally, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer works on continuous improvement projects aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles, such as set-up reduction and Kaizen events.
You Will:
- Develop and prepare comprehensive processes and routes for manufactured parts to achieve organizational goals related to scrap reduction and lead time improvement.
- Evaluate processes through process analysis, leveraging knowledge of product design, machining, materials, and input from suppliers, machine operators, and production technicians.
- Design and implement fixtures and gauges for manufactured parts.
- Identify root causes of failures using statistical methods, potentially leading to changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods.
- Engage in continuous improvement projects aligned with Lean Manufacturing, including set-up reduction, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and 5S initiatives.
- Assess product designs for manufacturability.
- Participate in the evaluation, procurement, and commissioning of new capital equipment.
- Develop and manage project plans and schedules, ensuring activities are completed within timing and budget constraints.
- Possess a strong understanding of drafting standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and the ability to interpret part drawings comprehensively.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional associations.
- Provide leadership to departmental colleagues, serve as the primary contact for high-level projects, establish project goals and objectives, and provide training and mentorship to junior staff.
You Have:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in ERP business systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Edge, or similar design software is required, with 3D modeling experience preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
- Comfortable with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting documents like part drawings, assembly drawings, safety rules, and operating instructions. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence, as well as effectively communicating with groups of customers or colleagues.
- Team player with a proven ability to thrive in a collaborative environment across different departments to achieve organizational objectives.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience.
- Experience in machining and high mix-low volume environments is advantageous.
