Scope:
The Senior Manager RN ASC provides leadership in the daily clinical operations of the Operating Room, Pain Management, Procedural Room, Central Sterile Processing Department, ENDO, Pre-Op, and PACU departments, in accordance with established State rules and regulations, AAAHC and AORN standards for ambulatory surgical facilities. Develops and enforces compliance with ASC policies and procedures. This position works closely with the providers, Director of Nursing, Senior Director, and ASC Leadership team.
Job Qualifications:
Education
BSN or 7 years of comparable experience in an ASC
MSN preferred
Experience
5 years of clinical leadership in perioperative or endoscopy settings.
Ambulatory Surgery Center experience.
Licenses:
Valid Texas RN License
BCLS

Computer skills; working knowledge with

Previous AAAHC preparation experience
Duties:
Clinical Activities:
Manages the daily clinical operations of the entirety of the ASC, including but not limited to the Operating Room, Pain Management, Procedural Room, Central Sterile Processing Department, ENDO, Pre-Op, and PACU departments:
Ensures departments are adequately staffed within budget and utilizes agency help when necessary.
Nursing policies and procedures are developed, reviewed, and updated as necessary.
Participates in patient care activities as needed and adheres to the Registered Nurse position description requirements when providing direct patient care.
Employee Management:
Demonstrates ability to delegate and/or supervise, orient, hire, develop, train, coach, evaluate, discipline, and terminate staff members.
Performs nursing staff performance appraisals as required by policy. Maintains accurate nursing employee files and achieves a positive working environment.
Works with human resources to recruit and retain staff.
Develops direct reports by providing mentoring, training, and feedback.
Monitors staff compliance with policies/procedures and takes appropriate disciplinary action as needed.
Monitors for consistent and accurate time reporting of employee’s hours worked.
Safety:
Maintains a safe environment and adheres to all facility safety regulations and KSC Safety programs. Provides leadership for development of policies and procedures for patient safety and compliance of National Patient Safety Goals. Removes defective equipment from service and reports to appropriate personnel. Arranges or provides in-services to staff as needed for new equipment/special procedures, etc.
Quality Improvement Activities:
Utilizes process improvement principles, including tools such as PDSA, to evaluate and improve current performance levels in the ASC.
Communicate any unusual occurrences, such as transfers, to the Quality Manager and Director of Nursing.
Ensures all unusual patient/staff/visitor occurrences are adequately documented in the variance reporting system and Risk Management is notified as appropriate.
Complies with infection control guidelines and monitors staff for non-compliance.
Actively participates in the ASC Quality/Safety Committee
Actively participates in the Medical Staff Leadership Committee meetings.
Regulatory Compliance:
Complies with state regulations, accreditation standards, and ASC policies and procedures. Oversees the staff for compliance.
Customer Service:
Maintains active professional relationships with patients, providers, and staff. Takes a proactive approach to resolution. Takes appropriate steps to address and resolve patient/provider complaints. Conducts self in accordance with the KSC Mission and Values. Monitors patient satisfaction survey results, proactively seeking ways to improve upon processes.
Utilization Resources:
Manages the department within the budget for FTEs, per-diem, and non-employee resources. Notifies the Director when staffing needs will change to meet patient care. Monitors agency requests and provides approval as necessary. Actively involved in capital and operations budgeting/decision-making processes. Monitors the OR block schedule and makes recommendations to increase/decrease provider-allocated block time as needed.
