Job Title: Family Law Attorney
Location: Downtown Chicago, IL
Job Status: Contract-to-hire
We are currently seeking a qualified Family Law Attorney to join our downtown Chicago office. The ideal candidate is a talented, sharp, and highly motivated attorney who can handle a high volume of cases, while also staying updated on all changes to laws and statutes related to family law. You will be responsible for representing clients in all stages of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, paternity, adoption, and more.
As a Family Law Attorney for our firm, you would be joining an experienced team of professionals dedicated to superior service and strong client advocacy.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in all judicial proceedings related to family law, including hearings, trials, and mediation sessions.
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, orders, judgments, and status updates.
- Conduct legal research, analysis, and drafting of complex legal documents and reports.
- Develop case strategies amidst consistently changing laws and legal practices.
- Provide counsel and advice to clients regarding their rights and obligations.
- Negotiate settlements, mediations and agreements on behalf of the client.
- Maintain client files and case documents, ensuring information is kept organized and updated.
- Remain updated with developments and changes in family law.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the Illinois State Bar in good standing.
- A minimum of 2+ years' experience in law.
- Proven track record of representation in family law cases.
- Demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of cases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ethical standard and professional demeanor.
- Superior research, analytical and negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel, as necessary.
