The Maimonides Department of Population Health is widely recognized for its leadership in efforts to improve the health of the Brooklyn community through transformation of the health care delivery system and the development of processes to support integration, coordination, and collaboration across a wide range of health and social services organizations. Functioning as a Central Services Organization (CSO), the department provides support to primary care, care management, and community-based partners, and is responsible for the management of the Maimonides PPS (Community Care of Brooklyn) network, Community Care of Brooklyn IPA, Inc., Brooklyn Health Home, LLC, and Brooklyn Communities Collaborative, Inc.
We seek a professional with a passion for advancing quality health care in Brooklyn for all, a strong work ethic, and an obsessive attention to detail. Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Analytics and Evaluation, the Population Health Data Manager plays a key role in providing expert technical data management, data extraction and data-driven reporting support to multiple population health programs. You will ensure that data obtained for use in support of all population health programs/initiatives are managed safely and securely, and you will help to maintaining the department’s internal databases that are used for both internal analyses and to develop reports for distribution to partner entities across various programs.
Specifically, you will:
- Synthesize clinical, operational and financial data to produce reports and analyses in support of multiple population health initiatives, including value-based arrangements with managed care payers.
- Maintain and support ongoing evolution of secure data environments to house data from multiple managed care organizations, CMS, the NYSDOH, for use by internal analytics staff and senior leadership.
- Be responsible for data retrieval across managed care plans and CMS data portals/data platforms, working to automate data retrieval where possible.
- Work with payer partners and other data providers to troubleshoot issues, ensuring we are in receipt of the highest quality data.
- Consume and integrate data in a variety of formats, normalizing data across sources as required in order to provide accurate and meaningful datasets for further analysis.
- Work with data analyst(s) and additional internal colleagues to extrapolate key insights from datasets and prepare reports for external use.
- Provide technical data management guidance and training to internal and external colleagues in support of reporting and analytics functions.
We require:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum two years professional experience in MS SQL Server and Microsoft Access and Excel required; proficiency with Tableau is a plus, and experience with one or more of R, Python, Ruby on Rails, and Visual Basic is desirable.
- Superior analytics abilities and experience producing analyses with BI/data mining tools.
- Creative problem-solving skills and an ability to translate technical information in an understandable manner
- Experience in population health, value-based payment arrangements and familiarity with NYS Medicaid and CMS programs; knowledge of medical terminology and coding, claims data preferred.
Salary $80,000-$90,000. HYBRID, three days/week in office. We offer a competitive, comprehensive benefits package including 403 (b).
