Job description:
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer (IBM LAB Admin.) to join our team in Poughkeepsie, NY. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and administration of IBM POWER servers along with AIX/Linux OS. You will also provide systems support to the offshore team of client & Capgemini and handle tickets for configuration requests. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in efficiently implementing and running IBM Power Systems and Administration.
Key responsibilities:
- Installation and configuration of IBM POWER servers along with AIX/Linux OS
- Provide systems support to the offshore team of Client & Capgemini
- Handle tickets for configuration requests
- Configuration of NIM, NFS Servers and administration
- Ensure detailed execution of responsibilities and duties
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in STEM plus 6 - 12 years of related experience
- Experience with IBM Lab Administration
- Excellent knowledge of IBM Power Systems and Administration
- Experience in installation and configuration of IBM POWER servers along with AIX/Linux OS
- Strong problem solving abilities
- Experience with Clustering and High Availability
- Experience in Networking (configure VLAN in switches)
- Experience with Configuration of NIM, NFS Servers and administration
- Knowledge of HMC & Novalink, KVM
- Experience in configuring FC switches and to configure Storage
- Good Exposure in the storage domain (preferred is EMC, DS8K and XIV
- Enabling the storage replication between the storage servers
- Python or Shell scripting
Nice to have skills:
- VIOS Virtualization & LPAR creations
- Knowledge on Cloud and Cloud Services
- VMware and Vcenter
- Knowledge on any database
- Configuring X-series servers with RHEL/SLES
- Knowledge with PowerVC.
