Summary:
We’re seeking a skilled and experienced leader to oversee the coding and management of health information. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of patient records, and making a positive impact on the community.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and Train: Provide leadership and training to health information staff.
- Supervise Records: Oversee coding, abstracting, and analysis of inpatient and outpatient records.
- Ensure Compliance: Adhere to state and federal retention guidelines and oversee the timely release of health information.
- Address Deficiencies: Resolve coding issues and collaborate with clinical staff to close knowledge gaps.
- Develop Policies: Review and develop privacy policies, address patient privacy concerns, and manage privacy breach complaints.
- Participate in Committees: Support decision-making on charge capture issues and participate in the Charge Capture Committee.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Certification: Certification or Certificate in Progress as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
- Experience: Five years of progressive experience in coding or health information management, with leadership or supervisory roles.
- Skills: Knowledge of computer systems, coding guidelines, payer requirements, and critical access hospital standards.
