One of our growing clients is seeking an experienced Substation Design Engineer specializing in both physical and protection & control practices. The role involves engineering work for substation systems ranging from 34.5kV to 500kV, requiring a solid foundation in high-voltage substation design principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop design documents and drawings for projects, including wiring diagrams and bills of materials.
- Perform engineering support tasks like relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
- Utilize engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow analysis.
- Collaborate with project engineers to ensure schedules and standards (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI) are maintained.
- Supervise project activities and manage documentation effectively.
- Provide hands-on support and training at job sites as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in substation engineering design; senior roles require 7+ years.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required for senior roles or the ability to obtain one within a year.
- Proficiency in AC/DC fundamentals, three-phase power systems, and substation components.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
