The Role:
We are seeking a creative, intelligent, driven individual with expertise in the large commercial and small utility scale solar industry. However, renewables experience is not required. The ideal candidate will build, train and lead a team of engineers
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of engineers (4-8)
- Set objectives, review performance, meet with team members
- Train engineers
- Provide engineering and/or technical input and direction relevant to site evaluation and characterization, permitting, Power Purchase Agreements, Interconnection Agreements, financial modeling, and related project development tasks.
- Perform detailed energy production modeling calculations, string sizing, PV array to inverter matching, voltage drop, as well as orientation and inter-row spacing analysis.
- Review specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.
- Identify appropriate equipment for use in PV systems and perform technical qualification of vendors.
- Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Maintain constant communication with key members of Sales and other departments as needed to ensure optimal system design, including but not limited to, workload reporting for use in forecasting and scheduling.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related engineering field
- PE license is a plus
- Minimum 7 years of solar or relatable engineering experience
- Ability to work within a team as well as mentor and manage other team members
