Position Summary
The Events and Donor Development Manager is responsible for leading Signature events and cultivating donor relationships outside of our three signature events. This position will also spearhead community engagement initiatives, fostering community partnerships and general awareness of the organization in the community.
For events, this position will work closely with volunteer leadership, tracking and stewarding corporate and private support, and lead the planning, management and execution of Signature Events.
For donor development outside of events, this position will cultivate new and existing annual gifts, and working closely with the Development Director to move donors into deeper, more meaningful relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and execute annual Signature Events in partnership with committee members and other Development staff.
· Oversee event committees, volunteers and vendors, establishing/ administering best practices and standards of excellence.
· Solicit and secure event sponsorships with event committee.
· Solicit and secure auction items for silent and live auctions.
· Monitor and coordinate event timelines, budgets, and communications.
· Manage event revenue process including invoicing, coding, collection, and acknowledgments.
· Create and distribute event marketing materials
· Organize and lead event committee meetings, alongside committee chairperson.
Establish relationships with new and existing donors with focus on moving them along the donor cultivation cycle.
· With Development team, transition special event constituents into annual donors.
· Manage 25-50 mid-level donors, designing and executing strategies and year-round touch points to deepen relationships with them.
· Learn and use donor development continuum to solicit and secure gifts on an annual basis
· Track conversations and solicitations in donor records.
· Oversee the tracking and processing of all gifts including thank you letters and recognition.
· Attend after hour events relating to networking and cultivation of new and existing relationships.
Participate in community engagement initiatives, directly and indirectly managing opportunities and requests.
· With development team, manage requests and execute 3rd party special events and fundraisers
· Attend and speak at various community events
· Assist with volunteer management in the community, with special events, and at the company
· Help with tours, social media, and other marketing/PR planning and initiatives, as needed
Preferred Position Qualifications
· Has at least 3 years of non-profit development experience or event planning or corporate development experience, with a proven track record for success
· Demonstrates excellent communications skills, listening, written and verbal
· Works well in a team environment, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
· Demonstrates attention to detail, accountability, and confidentiality.
· Proves a willingness to adjust to changing conditions or priorities and take the initiative to identify and act on problems, leading by example
· Demonstrated knowledge of the donor development cycle or strong desire to learn
· Has the ability to help load and unload event equipment and supplies as needed
· Can work occasional weekends and evenings as needed
