The Project Manager- Land and Site Engineer will be responsible for technical oversight on large and small Natural Gas and fiber optic projects. The Engineer will assist the Lead Engineer in designing and permitting the required utilities with the appropriate agencies. Quality and standard reviews of ongoing projects will be one of the primary responsibilities of the Engineer.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct responsibility for production of construction plans and permitting.
- Familiarity with putting together permit applications for TxDOT, County, City, and other utility provider submittals.
- Act as point of contact with agency reviewers.
- Plans, designs, and oversees civil engineering projects, such as natural gas pipelines and fiber optic cable for both onsite and offsite systems.
- Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data, applying knowledge and techniques of engineering, and advanced mathematics.
- Prepares and/or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project.
- Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
- May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
- 2 years of related experience
- Strong technical skills including the of and proficiency in AutoCAD
- Understanding of Texas RRC regulatory requirements pertaining to natural gas utility and transmission operations.
- Detailed and in-depth understanding of local codes and regulations
- Proficiency in the use of computer software programs, including spreadsheet, word processing, database, notepad, and PDF applications.
- Travel <20% to client meetings and project sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cumulative GPA over 3.3 preferred
- Registered EIT or PE in Texas is preferred.
- Experience using ArcMap, Tableau, and Monday.com
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Job requires employee to sit for extended periods of time, lift objects up to 30 lbs, grasp, carry, walk, speak, and listen.
- Work is performed mostly in a controlled office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
