Job Description
As Area Project Manager, you will be playing a critical role in construction of novel battery chemical plant(s) near Corpus Christi, TX. You will be responsible for delivering capex projects by working cross-functionally with various internal and external stakeholders, supporting end users, collaborating with construction engineering, while ensuring your projects are ahead of schedule and under budget.
Responsibilities:
- Create a roadmap for project success, understanding all the components of your projects and finding ways to meet project deliverables
- Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering site construction and supporting activities, including planning, procurement, construction, start-up, and prime contract close-out
- Overall responsibility for project execution, ensuring that the project is delivered within contract requirements and Tesla standards of quality and safety
- Write detailed and effective bid packages, ensuring seamless delivery of your project and always finding the best value for Tesla
- Supports selection of partners and suppliers
- Promote a safe and quality driven culture, both project and company wide
- Deliver projects ahead of schedule, enabling your teams and counterparts to solve problems and prioritize execution by company needs
- Track and understand all project costs at a fundamental level, challenge yourself and cross functional teams to drive costs down, and suggest value engineered proposals with thorough first principles analysis
- Manage budgets and schedules, manage performance, report progress, and initiate action to assure project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget
- Determine cost codes, approve invoices and make necessary budget management decisions
- Use efficient and aesthetic communication methods to escalate roadblocks or communicate successes as necessary
- Employ a can-do attitude, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and aligned to the project’s goals
- Provide the best product for your respective project’s customer or end users, keeping projects moving forward and addressing concerns as they arise
- Manage coordination with the engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and commissioning team
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience (heavy industrial, oil & gas, complex chemical plants) in a PM role, supporting structural steel, piping, and mechanical area
- Come from a general contractor’s background – large commercial (no residential) – shopping for subcontractors to do work
- General contractor PM
- Experience going through the commercial aspects of scopes (preparing RFPs, scopes of work, bid evaluation, leveling contractor selection, contract management) – MUST – this will be 90% of their day to day
- Know how to fully manage a project
- Previous experience on $500M+ projects
- Proficiency in Construction baseline development, change control, cost/schedule performance and variance analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication & presentation skills
- Proficient knowledge and proven delivery on Civil, Structural, and Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Life Safety and Controls Scopes
- Willingness to get your hands dirty as needed to complete objectives and lead through challenging projects.
- Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.
- Have an inquisitive and open attitude to exploring new ideas and drive to continuously learn

Compensation:
$60.00/hr to $70.00/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
