Flight Control Systems Safety Engineer III
We are seeking a dedicated Flight Control Systems Safety Engineer to join our dynamic client’s team within the Engineering Directorate, focusing on rotorcraft flight control systems for US-based products.
Key Responsibilities:
•Conduct Flight Control System safety process in accordance with ARP4761. Produce Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Design Assessments (DA), and System Safety Assessments (SSA) for FCS System that includes complex hardware and software.
•Conduct fault tree analysis and identify design, maintenance, and inspection requirements for safety mitigation.
•Support the derivation, verification, and validation of safety-derived requirements.
•Integrate supplier safety assessments into company safety documentation.
•Collaborate with suppliers on safety topics, ensuring high-quality safety data.
•Interface with regulatory authorities like the FAA on safety-related topics.
•Work closely with cross-geography teams on Flight Control Systems.
Primary Duties:
•Conduct safety analysis in support of aircraft design, development and, certification on US products (to include AW609, AW119, AW139).
•Prepare associated documentation. Engage with stakeholders to ensure hazard classifications are accepted, developing and monitoring metrics to report status.
•Coordinate validation of safety assumptions and artefact collection.
•Interface with FAA, DERs, and/or other regulatory agencies to justify assessments and aircraft design in the context of safety.
•Support and manage vendor activities and deliverables with supply chain management.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
•Over 5 years of professional experience in aerospace system safety, utilizing ARP-4761 or NASA CSRM.
•At least 2 years of experience in commercial aircraft certification programs.
•Proficiency in Systems Engineering standards ARP-4754, ARP-4761, or NASA CSRM.
•Skilled in Fault Tree Analysis tools like Isograph Reliability Workbench.
•Experience with aerospace standards DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, and FAA Certification Specifications FAR Part 25 and Part 29.
•Comprehensive understanding of the full Systems Engineering life cycle and basic knowledge of aircraft flight controls.
