Our client, a family-owned and well-established General Contractor located in Columbia, MD, is seeking an Assistant Estimator to join their experienced estimating team of 5. They handle a variety of commercial construction projects, including new builds, tenant fit-outs, and renovations, serving the commercial, federal, state, and local government sectors with project values typically ranging from $25,000 to $27 million.
Your New Role: As an Assistant Estimator, you will collaborate closely with the Senior Estimator and VP of Preconstruction to prepare proposals for bids for smaller JOC projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing quantity take-offs and material quantity estimates.
- Assisting in creating detailed cost estimates.
- Compiling bid proposals.
- Communicating with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Maintaining current documentation of all estimating activities.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- 1-3 years’ experience working within an estimating department in a General Contractor or Subcontractor environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical skills and capability of working in a fast-paced environment.
- A technical degree in construction management or architecture is a plus.
