THE ROLE:
The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs and practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of safety regulations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Safety Program Development:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
2.Training and Education:
- Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, including new hires and ongoing training for current staff.
- Promote safety awareness through workshops, seminars, and regular safety meetings.
3.Incident Management:
- Investigate accidents and near-misses, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain detailed records of incidents, safety inspections, and training activities.
4.Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations, DOT standards, and other relevant safety and work zone regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work zone safety audits, inspections, incident reports, and training activities. Prepare and submit required documentation to regulatory agencies.
5.Risk Assessment:
- Conduct risk assessments and job safety analyses to identify potential hazards associated with engineering projects.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
6.Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and disaster preparedness protocols.
- Conduct regular drills and exercises to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
7.Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with management, employees, and external stakeholders to foster a culture of safety within the organization.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams regarding safety practices and regulatory requirements.
YOUR RESUME:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)) are highly desirable.
- 4 - 7 years of experience in safety management, preferably within an engineering or construction environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and risk management practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Proven ability to lead safety initiatives and drive a culture of safety within the organization.
