Full time salaried opportunity with our client in the Minneapolis, MN area for an experienced Plant Manager. Our client is looking for this person to work onsite and has work authorization requirements: US Citizen or GC holder.
What you'll do: As the Plant manager you will provide leadership, direction, and resource stewardship to the organization's manufacturing plant. You are accountable for the overall performance of the manufacturing plant. This includes achieving performance objectives in factory safety, product quality, labor efficiency, manufacturing productivity, on-time customer delivery, and managing the plant within the established financial budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
- To enforce/establish production and quality control standards, develop budgets & cost control initiatives.
- To plan and direct production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors. This includes both standard product and special product fabrication.
- Directs production activities with safety, scheduling, maintenance, and quality control processes to obtain optimum production performance and utilization of human resources, materials, and equipment.
- Reviews, analyzes, and initiates corrective actions for problems in production, quality control, maintenance, and operations. Reviews reports to determine causes of nonconformities with product specifications, as well as operating or production problems.
- Develops and implements improvements in operating methods, plant layouts, and procedures to eliminate process problems and improve product quality and overall productivity.
- Manages and directs all Safety Program activities for the facility.
- Works with Production Planning/Scheduling to revise production schedules and priorities resulting from equipment failure or operating problems.
- Responsible to screen, interview, hire and direct the management of the onboarding process for new hires.
- Responsible for the performance management of all this location's personnel in conjunction with appropriate supervisory and management staff to ensure optimal performance. This may include following appropriate disciplinary steps to drive performance improvement or termination.
- Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment to improve production processes and the quality of products.
- Uses data for creating and reporting on operational performance metrics for the V.P. of Operations.
- Works with Quality Engineering and Inspection personnel on the development and implementation of the Quality Management processes, procedures, and systems in each functional area of the plant to ensure products meet or exceed customer needs and company quality requirements.
- Assess the need for new equipment and if needed, develop capital equipment business case and cost justification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of, and experience in working with wood; including cutting, gluing, and assembly.
- Working knowledge of, and experience in assembly of wood and metal components and sub-assemblies.
- Basic knowledge of performance characteristics of wood, i.e., plywood or wood products.
- Basic understanding of the performance characteristics of equipment used to process wood
- Experience with ISO 9000, experience with ISO 14000 is a plus.
- Understanding of and experience in working with MRP, Master scheduling, JIT, Cellular & Lean Manufacturing, Six-sigma.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret company ERP system reports, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering
- 7 years of proven successful plant management experience in a manufacturing factory.
- Previous experience supervising 50+ factory personnel.
- Experience with metals, wood, and booth painting
- Experience with CNC equipment and other wood cutting/processing equipment
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to effectively present ideas/information to groups of people and skilled in responding to questions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret managerial and financial management documents.
