Plant Production Superintendent - Job Summary:
We’re supporting our client, a Bar Grating Manufacturer based in Houston, Texas who are looking for a Plant Production Superintendent to join their growing team. The successful Plant Production Superintendentwill have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a plant supervisory role.
Salary: $115,000 - $120,000

Job Summary:
To achieve the timely, cost-effective production and shipment of quality grating products through the supervision of the activities of the plant work force.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and coordinates the overall manufacturing operation for the plant, including production and shipping schedules.
- Reviews production and inspection reports. Assures proper reporting from plant to office.
- Follows up on problem areas to assure schedules are met and problems are resolved.
- Oversees the plant maintenance function to assure plant is maintained.
- Manages plant operations and maintenance with hands on approach.
- Oversees plant quality systems.
- Assists in the design and modification of systems and equipment and assures compliance with the company and governmental rules and regulations in the plant.
- Hires, trains and supervises the plant supervisory work force which is directly responsible for the direction of the daily activities of an hourly work force engaged in production, maintenance and shipping.
- Attends production meetings and conducts monthly safety meetings.
- Handles some customer problems directly.
- Assures the implementation of the company's policies and procedures relating to manufacturing, safety, and personnel.
- Responsible for the maintenance of good employee relations in the plant and for the proper administration of the company/union contract.
About You:
- At least 2 years of a college education or an associate’s degree in industrial engineering. Four-year degree from an accredited college or university is desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a plant supervisory role. Specific experience within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable. Heavy industrial or manufacturing experience is desirable.
- Lean manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement experience desirable. Experience in leading CI events, Kai sans, and/or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude – prefer hands on experience with mechanical and/or electrical background.
- Hands on management style
- Must have excellent written, oral communications, and administrative skills.
- Must have excellent people, supervisory, and problem-solving skills
- Proven leadership ability to influence, develop, and empower employees to achieve objectives with a team approach.
- Must be extremely detail oriented and able to effectively manage large amounts of information.
- Proven ability to self-manage in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Good maintenance background a plus
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
- proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and
- Excel software. Manufacturing software desirable.
