The company has openings for full-time children’s attorneys to provide direct, independent legal representation of children and youth in the child welfare system. Attorneys will be responsible for carrying a full case load which includes meeting with and counseling child and youth clients to determine the course of legal advocacy; frequent court advocacy at all types of dependency proceedings from status hearings to motion hearings to trials; participating in mediations, negotiations, and treatment team staffings; and legal research and drafting of pleadings. Attorneys may also advocate for child victims of crime, including human trafficking, and engage in system advocacy to improve child welfare and the dependency system. Attorneys may also assist youth clients in navigating the juvenile delinquency system.
Qualifications
- Member in good standing of the Florida Bar Association.
- Experience serving low-income individuals, victims of crime, veterans, or other marginalized communities preferred but not required.
- A demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve.
- Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally within a highly stressful environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to work constructively with others.
- The ability to speak more than one language is a plus.

Salary and Benefits
This exempt, full-time position’s starting salary is $65,000. The salary for the successful applicant may be significantly higher, based on the applicant’s years of experience.
