The Cloud Architect will be responsible for working with technology teams to design and implement various cloud infrastructure within the Hospitality infrastructure. you will work closely with Technical Project Managers, Architects, Network, Platform, SRE and DBA engineering teams to ensure that the architected solutions are well designed, implemented and operationalized. You will assist in creating business cases and completing solution analysis to integrate new solutions within the environment.
Main responsibilities
- Facilitate proof of concepts to help drive operational enablement of emerging technologies. The result should be recommended patterns for adoption or declining use using non-functional requirements for guidance.
- Assist in defining and driving strategic vision for the Cloud environment
- Enable various teams to work within standards by specifying approved tools and technologies
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships for new and existing technologies.
- Participate in or supervise embedded teams in larger enterprise projects as required to meet strategic initiatives.
- Determine and prioritize processes for recoverability, fail-over, disaster recovery, and business continuity
- Participate in specifying operational objectives including SLA's and KPI's for availability, performance and security.
- Determine RTO and RPO objectives and devise strategies for improvement.
- Participate in architectural design with other team members and software architects. Encourage shared and common design practices.
- Provide technical escalation support across the deployed platforms, liaise with development, support, infrastructure, and security as required.
- Provide technical direction and clarification of requirements to software agile development teams, integration, and testing staff.
Education
- Degree in computer science and/or 7+ years of relevant work experience
- Azure architect-level certifications are an asset
Relevant work experience
- 7+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions for various Azure services
- Experience analyzing, documenting and presenting architecture solutions to stakeholders at all levels of the enterprise
- Experience designing and implementing hybrid cloud technologies to support cloud migrations
- Experience working in high availability, heavy transactional environments.
- Experience automating deployment of applications using desired state configuration, PowerShell, or other automation languages.
- Experience with information security and access management philosophies.
Business understanding
- Understanding of Hospitality systems and integration is a plus
Skills
Cloud Computing:
- Working experience designing and deploying Azure cloud compute, storage and PaaS
- Hands-on experience with web traffic management (CDN, IP and DNS Load Balancing) patterns
- Knowledge of version control, CI/CD concepts and tooling (Azure DevOps, TFS, Git, Jenkins, ArgoCD)
- Containers and container orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes platforms such AKS/EKS/GKS/OpenShift)
- Working knowledge of microservices patterns
- Deep understanding of zonal/regional availability concepts and trade-offs
- Strong understanding of Azure Active Directory and IAM
Operating systems:
- Windows Server, Linux (Redhat, Oracle Linux), VMware ESXi
Networking:
- Knowledge of routing, subnetting, L7 firewalling and network troubleshooting

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to summarize complex concepts, information and risks for non-technical audiences
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes, identify and understand requirements and develop alternate solutions
- Strong knowledge of and adherence to development methodologies, standards, and best practices
