Data Center Design Manager
6 month contract to start
3 days onsite in Seattle, WA
As a Design Manager, you will be part of a global engineering leadership team, comprised of highly effective Architects, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Security and Control Engineers. . This unique vantage point allows the Design Managers to maintain a close connection with project details and drive project outcomes. You will have impact on the design direction and ability to improve design delivery for an entire region, while establishing design procedures and protocols for the development of future systems. This role is an opportunity to collaborate with many facets of the organization, external engineering resources and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:
• Lead project teams of discipline leads to deliver quality and globally consistent data center designs across Americas within schedule and cost constraints while maintaining a high level of quality.
• Able to influence internal stakeholders, internal customers (operations), and external consultants to address program wide design changes
• Manage escalations from the design team and collaborate with procurement, construction and external consultants
• Effectively communicate with Leadership and external project partners, including the creation, tracking & reporting of metrics related to schedule, cost, and quality Throughout the lifecycle of the project.
• Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce contract change orders without negative impacts on quality or reliability.
• Drive speed, quality, and simplification by eliminating rework loops, reducing and automating manual work and hand-offs, identifying and implementing best practices across the business, and minimizing process variability through standardization and automation.
• Create global best practice documentation and facilitate sharing across the globe.
• Ability to motivate others to achieve impeccable quality in an explosive growth and deadline-driven environment.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional Engineering/Architecture License with 3+ years of large-scale Data Center facility design experience.
- 10+ years of experience directly related to data center design, construction, operations, and/or facility maintenance.
- Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards including IBC or equivalent. Functional knowledge of industry standards, environmental codes, building codes and safety standards including International Building Code
- Direct experience with design or construction administration of a variety of electrical distribution systems ranging from low voltage to high voltage.
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues to senior leadership or non-engineers, develop basic business case financial projections and create performance metrics
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional Engineering/Architecture License
- Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards including IBC or equivalent.
- Solid working proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
