Russell Tobin is working with a leading specialty manufacturer located in the Chouteau/Claramore area to add an experienced Senior Controls/Automation Engineer to their team! This is a direct hire/permanent position with a salary range of $130k-$150k/year.
Job Overview:
The Senior Controls Engineer is a key expert in programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical and control devices. This role also encompasses electrical design, controls network architecture, and process control strategies.
Essential Functions:
Execute Capital Projects:
- Assist engineering groups in developing the electrical and process control scope of work for capital projects.
- Execute capital controls projects, managing them to scope, budget, and schedule.
- Provide supervision for electrical contractors and startup assistance as needed.
Develop Project Content:
- Develop and implement control system strategies to improve safety, efficiency, capacity, and quality of existing operations.
- Maintain long-term automation plans to integrate batch operations, including C# .NET web applications and Rockwell’s FactoryTalk Batch suite.
- Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Follow best practices and corporate standards for instrumentation, control network architecture, and process controls.
Support Plant Operations:
- Support site staff during process upsets and assist with field instrumentation installation and troubleshooting.
- Provide control designs for process upgrades, including panel design and HMI and controller programming.
- Foster collaboration among stakeholders to develop and promote standardized and best practices for process control systems.
- Create recipe configurations for new products.
- Maintain site lists of control devices and software.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of experience leading and executing capital electrical and controls projects in the chemical or process industry.
- 8+ years of experience supporting network-based process control hardware and software.
- Ability to lead remote project teams and travel approximately 30% to company locations for scope definition, design development, and project implementation. Flexibility to adjust work hours and days to complete critical project tasks.
- Experience in preparing requests for bids and administering design and construction contracts.
- Experience with contract integration services and supervising electrical and other trades.
- Consistent track record of executing projects within budget and schedule.
- Proficiency in Rockwell RS View Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View SE & ME, SQL, and data historian databases.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for P&ID development and project scope documentation.
- Experience in integrator management.
- Experience with Cisco Stratix managed switch networks.
