Title: Construction Proposal Writer
Location: Chicago, IL 60625 (Hybrid)
Duration: Permanent Hire
Salary: 50k – 65k
This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday
We are currently seeking an experienced Proposal Writer to join our team of dedicated, hard-working individuals in our north side Chicago construction office. We are a family-owned, blue-collar organization with an extensive and reputable history in our field, servicing large commercial clients throughout the city and suburbs. We are in search of a reliable team-player with excellent written, grammatical and editing skills who can contribute to the productivity of our office operations.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Producing proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFP) and other generated leads. Responsible for compiling, formatting, proofing, editing and assembly of proposal documents.
- Producing professional correspondence based on direction from various estimating team members
- Familiarity with documentation corresponding with, but not limited to, public construction projects in City of Chicago and surrounding suburbs
- Working with internal staff on creating documentation and presentations for various projects and services
- Communicating with client regarding proposal when necessary
- Prioritizing projects and establishing target completion time for information gathering, drafting, reviewing, and obtaining approval of proposals
- Maintaining quality results by creating new documents and using existing templates, and following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone
- Maintaining and improving proposal template database; updating and organizing as necessary
- Tracking proposals during drafting process so that all bids are delivered and no proposal is overlooked
- Writing annual/biannual maintenance proposals for properties requiring maintenance
- Logging maintenance proposals to keep track of maintenance
- Improving proposal-writing results by evaluating processes, approach, coordination and templates
- Performing various office tasks including reception, filing and other miscellaneous clerical duties as necessary

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree preferably in English, Journalism, Communications, or similar
- Construction experience preferred or a strong understand of how the trades work
- 65 - 70 WPM
- Solid Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Solid Google Drive skills (Gmail, Google Calendars, Docs)
- Impeccable writing, spelling, and grammar skills
- Outstanding reading and listening skills
- Organized presentation skills
- Excellent detail-oriented organizational skills
- Problem solving ability
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to think conceptually
- Strong teaming and collaborative competence
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Capability of developing and maintaining effective working relationships throughout the office and with clients and vendors
- Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks in order to ensure assignments are completed in a timely manner.
- Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints
- Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
