Summary
The Air Movement Engineer is responsible for the design and development of new products, support for legacy products, and providing technical expertise to customers and manufacturing. This role includes hands-on support for the product engineering lab, focusing on new product design verification, validation testing, and prototype manufacturing. Duties also involve creating test plans, evaluating test setups, interpreting test results, and troubleshooting, as well as performing root cause failure analysis on returned goods under warranty and generating reports.
Job Functions
- Provide technical support to customers for the use and application of both new and legacy products, including fans and blowers.
- Design and develop blowers and vane axial fans.
- Perform failure analysis of returned materials, whether for warranty claims or customer requests.
- Evaluate parts not manufactured to drawing/process requirements and support the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process.
- Set production test requirements for all blowers and fans.
- Interpret data output from testing, including data analysis and report writing.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as design to cost and LEAN implementation.
- Adhere to company safety policies.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Expertise in centrifugal blowers and vane axial fan theory, design, and applications.
- Experience designing blower wheels, housings, and vane axial fan blades.
- Knowledge of aluminum casting specifications and AMCA test specifications.
- Ability to identify complex problems and develop and implement solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor with a positive attitude and the ability to connect with others.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Proven ability to complete tasks accurately and on time.
- Comfortable multitasking several projects simultaneously.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in designing, testing, and supporting electric blowers and vane axial fans.
- Proficiency with engineering software tools and MS Office.
