Responsibilities:
- Conduct data cleansing from multiple database sources, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and consistency. Assist in defining data ownership roles and responsibilities as required.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Contribute to the definition and organization of company data assets to populate data models effectively. Assist in developing a strategy for the long-term data platform architecture to ensure scalability and efficiency. Document data-related processes thoroughly for transparency and future reference.
- Help define and implement data retention policies and procedures in accordance with Virginia State regulations and stakeholder needs.
- Support database performance by monitoring, evaluating, and suggesting resolution for processing and programming problems.
- Secure database by preparing access and control policies and procedures and implementing disaster recovery procedures.
- Data Analysis: Analyze volumes of data from various systems (external/internal) to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Generate actionable insights to improve business processes and decision-making.
- Query Data: Write and optimize complex SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and report on data efficiently. Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues related to data retrieval.
- Reporting and Visualization: Create and manage ad-hoc data reports and provide clear and actionable business insights to drive key decisions.
- System Integration: Organize sessions to collaborate with other IT professionals and business units to integrate systems and applications. Ensure seamless data flow and synchronization.
- Data Quality and Governance: Implement and enforce data quality standards and governance practices. Monitor and maintain data accuracy, consistency, and security.
- Documentation and Training: Develop comprehensive documentation for database schemas (using Data Dictionary, ERD/DFD etc.), queries, and data processes. Provide training and support to business user as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest developments in Oracle technologies and ERP systems. Propose and implement enhancements to improve system performance and data management practices.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis and development, specifically with Oracle/Sql databases (10 years preferred).
- Proven track record in designing, working, and optimizing database schemas.
- Strong experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and other database tools.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Oracle/Sql database management and development.
- Experience with data modeling and schema design with Master Data Management (MDM) etc.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with reporting tools and data visualization.
Analytical Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with complex data analysis and reporting.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present complex data findings in a clear and actionable manner to both technical-functional user groups.
Additional Skills:
- Prefer experience with systems (e.g., Oracle E-Business Suite, SAP, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices.
- 10+ years of experience as a Technical Data Analyst, with a focus on IT development projects.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
- Database Querying (SQL, Oracle and/or Crystal).
- Understanding of the systems development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Familiarity with project management concepts and practices.
- Task entry and tracking via Jira (preferred).
- Adept at report writing and presenting findings.
