This role will be responsible for permitting compliance, and overall environmental compliance of the project. The Environmental Compliance Manager will be responsible for the implementation of all the environmental design and construction commitments and conditions of Environmental Approvals required for the project.
The ECM will develop, plan and program all engineering activities, involved in identifying, solving or alleviating environmental problems.
Responsibilities
- Oversees all environmental aspects of the project design.
- Works closely with Construction Team to identify permitting requirements for critical path activities and ensure Construction Team are aware of potential timing restrictions.
- Works closely with Technical Service Department to ensure all environmental issues are addressed and project schedules are met.
- Involved in public consultation process as required.
- Coordinates environmental sub-contractors to provide specialty input and direction on behalf of WEP.
- Analyzes and identifies leading and lagging trends to assist in environmental protection and compliance.
- Direct the project’s environmental program. Inform project leadership team of environmental issues and (solutions) involving the building of the project.
- Coordinates the instruction of operating personnel concerning the organization’s environment objectives.
- Manages the environmental activities, monitor, document, and report environmental compliance for the project.
- Report any violation of failure to comply with requirements to the client.
- Identifies and implements corrective and preventative actions to ensure compliance.
- Compiles quarterly and annual reports to update ongoing environmental processes and address current issues. Provide recommendations for implementation of corrective / preventative actions and suggest program improvements.
- Participate in Corporate Audits
Essential Functions

- Ensures compliance with all related compliance activities, identifies and manages risk verify and monitors associated training requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive working knowledge of Environmental Acts, Permits, Concerns & Regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, conflict resolution and mentoring skills
- Ability to handle competing priorities
Special Conditions
- Must be available 24/7 a week during the DB period
- Must be available on-site for monthly meetings during the Operating Period
- Must be available on-site within 6 hours when necessary
- Must be available to be contacted 24/7 a week to ensure environmental compliance and/or as requested by LA DOTD.
