The Senior Engineer is tasked with responsibilities in the following key areas:
- Developing innovative new product design solutions, improving existing designs, and minimizing the cost impact of these designs within the refrigeration system
- Improving the Energy efficiency of the Dehumidifier products
- Preparing engineering specifications
- Supporting Product Engineering, Procurement and Operations as relevant to the above
Leadership Accountabilities
- Improve and integrate the design and development of product within the New Product Introduction (NPI) team.
- Prepare and approve production documentation related to new designs
- Identify product or productivity improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with other functional groups as a technical resource for product line.
- Be a technical voice in design reviews and design decisions.
Execution
- Move designs forward to completion through innovation and collaboration
- Execute project schedules, budgets, and performance deliverables.
Process
- Collaborate with others in the Engineering team and other departments to accomplish goals and solve issues
- Provide status and information to keep stakeholders informed and engaged of progress on key activities.
- Provide prompt communication to stakeholders on important event occurrences.
Technical Support
- Supplier selection & evaluation :
- Evaluate alternate components against product specifications
- Assist in qualifying vendors to meet product requirements
- Provide application support to Product Management and New Product Introduction teams
- Provide technical input for Continuous Improvement projects (Cost and Quality)
- Collaborate with Lab Operation team and Product Approval team
- Design experiment for product development and problem solving
- Develop test plan to validate product design concepts
- Follow engineering and problem-solving principles in the execution of day-to-day work
- Provide technical input in NPI activities and Engineering design reviews.
- Government and Regulatory Management
- Know key requirements of Energy Efficiency testing as well as safety and regulatory standards pertaining to HVAC/R products
- Participate in and lead activities to ensure products meet the latest Energy standards and regulatory minimums.
Must Haves:
- Deep understanding of refrigeration sealed systems, including, but not limited to:
- Analyzing psychometrics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
- Guiding Sourcing team for key component selection for both refrigeration and air-moving system
- Guiding model shop for product prototyping, constructing test plans, and conducting developmental testing
- Passion for improving Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and achieving the goal of healthy air.
- Experience leading HVAC/R research projects involving empirical testing, simulation, novel technologies or applications, and data collection
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks; ability to use for design is a plus
- Proficiency in CoilDesigner and VapCyc or comparable Heat exchanger design tools; Highly desirable
- Working knowledge of JMP, Minitab or comparable statistical package; for design is a plus
- Industry experience in consumer products, commercial products and/or electronic products that are mass produced.

Nice to have:
- Experience leading or having a primary role on a team to bring new products to market using a New Product Development process.
- Working knowledge of regulations, standards, and codes such as those produced or endorsed by, but not limited to, IEC, IEEE, NEMA, NEC, UL, AHRI, and ASHRAE.
- Understanding of Design for Six Sigma is a plus
- Demonstrated understanding of environmental, reliability & qualification testing.
Education and Experince:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar disciplines
- 5 + years of experience in designing and manufacturing products that require refrigeration systems such as in appliances, HVAC products, or automotive products
- Experience in the design of high volume products is desirable
- Experience working within industry codes and standards.
- Work authorization in the US is required for all candidates.
