About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Engineering Manager to lead our dynamic team of ML engineers. In this role, you will play a crucial part in driving the success of our machine learning initiatives, ensuring the seamless integration of ML models into production environments, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of 5 machine learning engineers, with potential for team growth.
- Provide guidance on best practices, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines to maintain high engineering standards.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.
Technical Expertise:
- Oversee the design and implementation of distributed systems and ensure the robustness of ML infrastructure.
- Utilize observability tools like Grafana for monitoring and maintaining system health.
- Manage COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) to optimize cost efficiency of ML solutions.
- Contribute to hands-on problem-solving and incident management, addressing customer issues as they arise.
Product & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with product teams to align engineering efforts with product goals, ensuring a strong product mindset within the team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive the successful deployment of machine learning models into production.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, providing subject matter expertise (SME) and technical guidance.
Innovation & Optimization:
- Lead efforts in RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and A/B testing to optimize and validate ML models.
- Champion continuous improvement of ML pipelines and systems, leveraging industry best practices and new technologies.
Incident Management:
- Take ownership of incident management processes, swiftly addressing and resolving any issues that impact system performance or customer experience.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in managing and scaling engineering teams, particularly within the machine learning domain.
- Strong technical background with expertise in CI/CD pipelines, distributed systems, and observability tools like Grafana.
- Demonstrated ability to manage costs effectively and drive cost-efficient engineering solutions.
- Solid experience with product management principles, particularly in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills, with a willingness to dive into technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and A/B testing is a plus.
