About the Position
Reporting to the Director of Security Architecture & Engineering, the Information Security Architect is responsible for contributing to the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Information Security program at HUB International.
The Information Security Architect functions as a member of the Security Architecture & Engineering team and interacts with technical and business units to plan and implement information security solutions. This role requires strong teamwork skills and leadership qualities and must be able to foster and maintain business relationships with both technical and business units, must be a great communicator.
Responsibilities:
- Protect the integrity and confidentiality of HUB data and infrastructure while enabling business functionality in all systems and environments by supporting applicable security solutions.
- Develop security requirements, standards, procedures, and reference architectures to comply with policies and technical standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to drive security architecture and secure design solutions for projects and continuous improvement.
- Is a resource for teams looking for deeper clarity, potential solutions, or recommendations for meeting security requirements.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills; able to quickly digest any issue/problem encountered and recommend an appropriate solution.
- Evaluate business processes and IT technology, identify security risks, process gaps, and evaluate IT controls.
- Explores and assesses the latest technology trends, disruptions, and security/IT service business models to ensure Business Technology maintains, and improves, organization cyber competitive edge.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage customers at a business level in addition to a technical level.
- Experience identifying and documenting security requirements for complex solutions and architectures aligned to commonly used frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, MITRE ATT&CK, and ISO 2700x.
- Have a wide range of experience within a variety of environments such as cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure.
- Evaluate, create, and update architecture diagrams in common formats and tools such as Visio.
- Gather and report on key organizational information security metrics.
- Willingness to mentor and develop others.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Related certifications (e.g., GSEC, CISSP, GIAC, AWS) preferred.
- At least 7 years’ experience in an Information Security role.
- Expert knowledge of information security standards, principles, and practices required.
- Experience in multiple security domains, such as application security, network security, operating systems, and vulnerability management with a special focus on identity and access management and encryption.
- Ability to lead and manage projects across multiple teams or groups.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- This position reports into Chicago and can be based anywhere in the U.S. (i.e. remote/virtual)
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of working time
