I am currently recruiting for a licensed Engineer or Registered Architect with 5+ years of experience in the Existing Buildings Renovation / Multi-Family residential consulting / design industry at my clients Philadelphia office. This candidate gets to lead and manage engineering projects, oversee design development, provide technical expertise, and ensure the successful delivery of projects within scope, budget and timeline.
Key Responsibilities / Role Functions:
- Organize and lead project initiation, progress, and closeout meetings, promoting effective dialogue and collaboration among team members and stakeholders.
- Review and monitor schedules to ensure alignment with project timelines and plans, coordinating with both internal teams and external partners to achieve project goals.
- Perform on-site evaluations, documenting current conditions, conducting field tests, taking photographs, and creating hand-drawn sketches. Monitor ongoing work to ensure it meets project requirements.
- Accurately record field measurements and perform necessary calculations throughout the project’s duration.
- Draft and manage correspondence with clients and contractors, ensuring clear and professional communication is maintained throughout the project.
- Interpret investigation reports and bid documents, including drawings and technical specifications, to guarantee correct understanding and application.
- Provide updates on project progress and proactively address any issues or discrepancies. Escalate unresolved matters to a direct supervisor promptly.
- Maintain well-organized records, drawings, and other essential project documentation, ensuring they are properly stored within the company’s systems for easy access and future use.
- Gather post-project feedback to identify potential areas for improvement and communicate this feedback to the direct supervisor.
- Stay informed on industry developments and trends by participating in educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and engaging with professional societies and networks.
- Participate in networking opportunities and represent the company at various events, seminars, and continuing education sessions. Actively seek opportunities to enhance the company’s visibility within the industry, beyond exclusive company events.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the firm, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to contributing to the team’s overall success.
Role Technical Requirements:
- Applies specialized technical knowledge to aid in the architectural and engineering design processes.
- Carries out design work, calculations, and prepares CAD drawings.
- Conducts peer reviews of technical data generated by external parties.
- Develops various civil/structural and building envelope designs and plans.
- Review and authorize contractor change orders, payment applications, and requests for information (RFIs).
- Conducts inspections, including site assessments, data gathering, and analysis, to identify the root causes of failures, defects, or other issues.
- Performs a variety of tests, such as material testing, structural analysis, and performance assessments.
- Oversees testing procedures and ensures accurate data is collected for precise result interpretation.
- Assists in drafting and reviewing technical specifications, drawings, and construction documentation.
- Produces detailed field reports that document observations, measurements, and findings from site inspections.
- Creates expert reports offering thorough analysis, conclusions, and recommendations based on project needs and discoveries.
Skill Requirements:

- Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and standards.

- Familiarity with AIA standard contract documents and forms.
- Proficiency in drafting software (AutoCAD, BricsCAD, Revit) for applicable roles.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, able to work effectively both independently and with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to work on-site and travel as required by project demands.
- Effective time management, ensuring adherence to project budgets.
Educational & Certification Requirements:
** Professional Engineer or Registered Architect license required.
** Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering or Architecture.
- OSHA - 10 Certification preferred.
- Five-years’ or more experience in residential construction, framing and deck design or relevant work experience.
- Work with existing buildings and residential multi-family construction experience is required.
** Valid United States Driver’s License required, as this position requires travel to and from client sites.
