We are seeking a qualified and experienced IT PMO Lead to join our team and support our refinery as we embark on large-scale software rollouts that will significantly impact our overall company and processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in building a Project Management Office within our organization that is fully equipped to embrace and leverage the new software and technologies to achieve our business objectives.
The candidate must seek to understand the Refinery business and its core business processes and will be responsible for defining Project methodologies, Project best practices, Project policies & procedures, and define overall Project implementation standards.
Dimensions:
- Will support the IT Enterprise Digital Solutions Manager in defining a PMO strategy.
- Will work daily with current Project Managers, building our PMO.
- Will work daily with core IT Project teams (Applications, Infrastructure, Security, etc) as well as with Project Stakeholders / End Users
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with department leads to develop Projects and Programs.
- From a PMO standpoint, assist in effective management of IT capital project investments.
- Track and report on Project budgets and Project status across portfolios.
- Serve as PMO process and tools subject management expert (SME).
- Communicate, influence, motivate, and negotiate vertically and horizontally within the site.
- Strong communication and leadership skillsets and organized so to lead under pressure.
- Assist in developing and implementing change management strategies to support the successful rollout of new software and related processes.
- Work closely with all IT Project Managers and other stakeholders to understand the impact of change and resources with multiple projects running in parallel.
- Develop and deliver weekly and monthly status reports to Project steering committees.
- Assist with IT project communications. This includes updates to all stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
- Third party vendor management.
Value Generation & Innovation
- Support and enable projects and programs within the PMO.
- Manage day-to-day activities of the PMO.
- Create and document PMO policies, procedures and processes that will be used to build, coach, and train a project management community and stakeholders on PMO processes and tools.
- Define and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for each Project or Program.
- Continually evaluate the PMO processes to identify areas for improvement and propose action plans which will address gaps.
- Problem solver and can make decisions and work in a fast- paced environment.
- Drive user adoption across the organization through user training and the sharing of best practices
- Create usable reports and dashboards needed by senior leadership to make decisions.
- Analyze financial data, including project budgets, risks, and resource allocation.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, CIS, MIS, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in leading Project Management Offices, preferably in Oil & Gas industry (ideally refinery).
- Experience leading multiple large-scale projects / initiatives.
- Experience working with different Project methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
- Experience with standard PMO tools – MS Project, SharePoint, JIRA, Visio, Plainview PPM Pro.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and anticipate potential challenges.
- A desire to be part of a fast-paced IT team and growing organization.
- Familiarity with Project Management methodologies and tools, such as PMI frameworks.
- Experience with software implementation projects.
- Team player, self-driven, logical, organized, and collaborator.
Certificates and/or Skillsets (preferred):
- PMI (Project Management Institute) PMP strongly desired
- ITIL
- OCM (Organizational Change Management) experience
- Experience with Enterprise Architecture tools (LeanIX / Signavio)
