Drywall Estimator - Northwest Houston
Job Overview: The drywall estimator is responsible for accurately assessing the materials, labor, and associated costs required for drywall installation projects. The drywall estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure that project specifications are met within budgetary constraints.
Drywall Estimator Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Material Estimation:
- Calculate the quantity of drywall sheets, joint compound, screws, and other materials needed based on project blueprints and specifications.
- Consider factors such as room dimensions, ceiling height, type of drywall (standard, fire-resistant, moisture-resistant), and any special requirements.
Labor Cost Estimation:
- Estimate labor costs based on the scope of work, including installation, taping, finishing, and cleanup.
- Factor in local labor rates, project timelines, and any overtime or special labor requirements.
Cost Analysis:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including material costs, labor costs, equipment rental fees, and overhead expenses.
- Review and analyze quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
Bid Preparation:
- Prepare bids and proposals for drywall installation projects, ensuring all costs are accounted for and competitive.
- Coordinate with project managers and clients to clarify project requirements and specifications.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and project documentation.
- Provide regular progress reports and updates to stakeholders regarding cost estimates and budget adjustments.
Supplier and Contractor Relations:
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Cost Management:
- Monitor project budgets and expenses throughout the construction process.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose alternatives without compromising quality or safety standards.
Drywall Estimator Skills and Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry
- Drywall industry is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools
- Ability to understand and read blue prints
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with project teams, clients, and suppliers
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
