Source One is a consulting services company and we’re currently looking for the following individual to work as a consultant with our direct client, a utilities company in New Jersey. Please Note: Location: hybrid role. A minimum of 3 days in the field and a maximum of 2 days working at home. There is no guarantee of 2 WFH days. It could be more time in the field or office as needed. The sites could be anywhere in the territory from Camden up through Bergen County.
Title: Remediation Specialist
Location: Field and Office, multiple locations within NJ
w2 Hourly Pay: up to $40.00/hr
Contract Duration: 6-12 months with potential extension
Qualifications:
A degree in geology, environmental science or related engineering discipline and a minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience with investigation and remediation of contaminated sites in New Jersey is required. Must be very knowledgeable of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Site Remediation regulations and guidance, OSHA Health and Safety requirements and requirements for Hazardous Waste Site Operations (individual must be 40-hour OSHA trained with a current 8-hour refresher and associated medical clearance). The Remediation Specialist must have proficiency with word and excel programs and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Remediation project management experience is a plus.
Job Description/Daily Duties:
This position will support various Project Managers in the review technical documents such as Remedial Investigation Reports and Remedial Action Work Plans, oversight of soil and groundwater investigation/sampling activities and oversight of large complex remedial construction projects. The Remediation Specialist will conduct technical reviews and research to support environmental remedial activities; track regulatory and contractor activities to ensure compliance with NJDEP regulations and guidance and contract commitments; interpret NJDEP guidance and regulations and make recommendations on applicability to the PSE&G Remediation Program; track project contract and regulatory commitments; review and approve monthly invoice and consultant/contractor change orders; and complete project meeting minutes for their assigned projects on a timely basis. The Remediation Specialist must be comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously within a matrix organization and must be experienced making decisions and recommendations to environmental consultants and contractors to ensure projects are completed safely, in accordance with contract documents and in compliance with NJDEP rules and regulations.
Skills:
1) Knowledge and experience with the NJDEP Site Remediation Program (SRP) and the application of SRP regulations and guidance to projects.
2) Field and health and safety experience conducting soil and ground water investigations and large, complex soil and groundwater remedial actions in New Jersey.
3) Excellent communication and organizational skills.
4) Experience with financial budgeting and forecasting, invoicing and change order review
5) Must be detailed/task oriented and results driven.
6) Excellent writing and note taking skills
