The Westchester County Department of Information Technology (DoIT) seeks qualified IT professionals to fill the position of Assistant Director of Telecommunications.
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Chief Information Officer, the successful candidate is responsible for the assisting in the planning, development, project management, implementation and ongoing support of the enhanced 911 Emergency System in the County and for the local municipal PSAP’s.
Assisting in the planning, development, implementation and ongoing support of telecommunications equipment, services and data networks for all County departments. In addition, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting in the planning, project management, implementation and ongoing support of the enhanced 911 Emergency System in the County.
Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:
Manages and coordinates the efforts of local municipal police, fire and EMS agencies in the tasks associated with the implementation and operation of the Enhanced 911 Emergency System within the County.
Develops and maintains the operating, non-recurring, equipment and capital budgets for the 911 Emergency System in the County, including projected allocations for end-user departments and divisions
Develops technical specifications for the procurement of telecommunications and data equipment, systems and services.
Administers the processing and implementation of requests from the local municipal police, fire and EMS agencies within the County for additions, changes and/or relocation of telecommunications and data equipment and services.
Responsible for the implementation, support, training and contract management of the County’s emergency notification system.
*Candidate needs to have a strong knowledge of the Enhanced 911 Emergency System
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience (pre or post degree) where a primary function of the position was planning, procurement and management of telecommunications systems and/or services, two years of which must have been in a supervisory or team lead capacity; (b) nine years of experience in telecommunications planning and procurement of services, one year of which must be in a supervisory capacity; or (c) a satisfactory equivalent combination of the foregoing training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).
*Possession of a valid New York State Driver's license and maintain same while in the title is required
This is a Civil Service position that will require the successful candidate to be appointed from a list of eligible candidates, following examination.
