JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an industrial electrical engineer to join our team and work on various projects involving medium voltage switchgear, substation equipment, and related electrical systems. In collaboration with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders, you will be responsible for assisting in the design, procurement, testing, modification, and installation of substations and medium voltage systems equipment.
Essential Functions
- · Design, test, install, and maintain medium voltage switchgear and substation equipment for industrial applications, such as transformers, breakers, relays, meters, and control panels.
- · Use power system analysis software, AutoCAD, and simulation tools to conduct FEED studies and system modeling.
- · Review and refine power system studies, such as load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and transient stability.
- · Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, NEC, and regulatory requirements.
- · Prepare procurement inquiry documents, technical specifications, requests for proposal (RFPs), and bid evaluation criteria for medium voltage switchgear, substation equipment, and related electrical systems.
- · Assess equipment specifications, quality standards, and compliance requirements for procurement activities.
- · Negotiate with suppliers, manage vendor relationships, and oversee procurement contracts.
- · Perform and supervise testing and commissioning of substation equipment and systems, such as insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, circuit breaker timing, and protection relay testing.
- · Document and communicate project progress, issues, and solutions to stakeholders and management.
- · Coordinate with project teams and other disciplines to ensure the integration and optimization of electrical systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in preparing procurement inquiry documents for medium voltage switchgear, substation equipment, and related electrical systems.
- Proficiency in industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, NEC, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to use power system analysis software, AutoCAD, and simulation tools for FEED studies and system modeling.
- Knowledge of NETA testing standards and procedures related to medium voltage equipment and switchgear.
- Experience in interpreting test results, analyzing equipment performance, and identifying potential issues.
- Ability to collaborate with NETA testing teams, coordinate testing schedules, and ensure compliance with testing requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in test procedures, documentation, and reporting for NETA testing activities.
