Description
This Network Engineer will ensure timely incident and problem resolution while maintaining strict adherence to change and knowledge management procedures. This individual must have a proven track record of installing, maintaining and troubleshooting complex network infrastructures. Additionally, this position will require the ability to lead initiatives around the evaluation, recommendation and implementation of current and emerging network technology solutions.
The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Recommend, design, implement and ensure ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the network infrastructure across the enterprise devices including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless access points/controllers/bridges, monitoring applications, etc.
- Familiar with network integration with PLC’s, HMI’s, I/O devices, controllers and SCADA
- Responsible for overall performance and availability of network infrastructure
- Establish and monitor network infrastructure security configuration standards, procedures and compliance
- Proactively monitor and resolve network performance and communication issues to ensure maximum availability and reliability
- Analyze network and network security infrastructure recommending upgrades/changes supporting continuous improvement and capacity planning efforts
- Proactively coordinates asset life cycle maintenance by procuring, deploying, maintaining and retiring hardware devices, software and peripherals
- Configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of existing VOIP network and devices
- Familiar with the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of video conferencing solutions
- Resolve issues in a timely manner; documenting steps taken to do so and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Participate as an escalation point of contact for network related after hour’s incidents
- Develop and maintain network disaster recovery procedures including detailed documentation such as topology diagrams, device configurations and checklists
- Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and online resources
The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related computer field strongly preferred. 5+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum education required: Associates Degree in IT field
- Technical vendor certifications are preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in network engineering. Network related certifications are strongly desired.
- Strong Palo Alto Firewall Experience.
- Strong experience with Cisco Wireless Tech & Switches, Routing, Layer 2 & 3.
- Expert level of understanding supporting LAN, WAN, wireless and voice networks
- Expert level of understanding with VLANs, STP, trunking, tagging, QoS, static/dynamic routing and high availability configurations within virtualized networking environments
- Knowledge and experience administering “Next Generation Firewalls” and IPS policies
- Knowledge and experience implementing and supporting SD-WAN, iWAN or DMVPN solutions strongly desired
- Knowledge and experience administering on premise and/or Cloud VoIP solutions
- Expertise with virtualized environments; VMware strongly preferred
- Knowledge and experience with one or more cybersecurity control frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO, and CIS)
- Highly self-motivated and directed; logical and efficient with strong problem-solving skills; ability to thrive in rapidly changing environment under minimum supervision
- Experience training, coaching and mentoring junior staff members strongly desired
- Tactful with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization; as well as, individuals outside the organization
- Ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience leading projects and performing project management duties desired
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive internal and external information
- Ability to travel up to up to 10% to locations outside Ohio
